چکیده

Three recent papers [5, 11, 8] have considered in complementary ways the combinatorial consequences of assuming that three squares overlap in a string. In this paper we provide a unifying framework for these results: we show that in 12 of 14 subcases that arise the postulated occurrence of three neighbouring squares forces a breakdown into highly periodic behaviour, thus essentially trivial and easily recognizable. In particular, we provide a proof of Subcase 4 for the first time, and we simplify and refine the previously established results for Subcases 11–14.

Mining Overlapping Communities in Real-world Networks Based on Extended Modularity Gain

Detecting communities plays a vital role in studying group level patterns of a social network and it can be helpful in developing several recommendation systems such as movie recommendation, book recommendation, friend recommendation and so on. Most of the community detection algorithms can detect disjoint communities only, but in the real time scenario, a node can be a member of more than one ...

A New Approach in Job Shop Scheduling: Overlapping Operation

In this paper, a new approach to overlapping operations in job shop scheduling is presented. In many job shops, a customer demand can be met in more than one way for each job, where demand determines the quantity of each finished job ordered by a customer. In each job, embedded operations can be performed due to overlapping considerations in which each operation may be overlapped with the other...

Recent Advances in Least Squares 3d Surface Matching

We present an algorithm for the least squares matching of overlapping 3D surfaces. It estimates the transformation parameters between two or more fully 3D surfaces, using the Generalized Gauss-Markoff model, minimizing the sum of squares of the Euclidean distances between the surfaces. This formulation gives the opportunity of matching arbitrarily oriented 3D surfaces simultaneously, without us...

Least Squares Matching of 3d Surfaces

An algorithm for the least squares matching of overlapping 3D surfaces is presented. It estimates the transformation parameters of one or more fully 3D surfaces with respect to a template one, using the Generalized Gauss-Markoff model, minimizing the sum of squares of the Euclidean distances between the surfaces. This formulation gives the opportunity of matching arbitrarily oriented 3D surface...

A New Technique for Image Zooming Based on the Moving Least Squares

In this paper, a new method for gray-scale image and color zooming algorithm based on their local information is offered. In the proposed method, the unknown values of the new pixels on the image are computed by Moving Least Square (MLS) approximation based on both the quadratic spline and Gaussian-type weight functions. The numerical results showed that this method is more preferable to biline...
